Karaoke Anyone?

Well this past weekend was the ever popular and always highly anticipated Tam Family Association Dinner. In the Chinese culture there are family associations which are like little clubs. They can be for a family or for a village in a certain area of China. The King's uncle is one of the leaders of the Tam Association. The evening is a chance for friends and family to get together enjoy a typical 10 course Chinese banquet and to catch up on what's new. But the highlight for me has always been the Karaoke part of the evening. Through out the evening, some of the more mature people get up and sing their favorite Chinese tunes. But wait it gets better. They really enjoy doing Chinese Opera, which sang by the best singers in the world is still a little like hearing a cat get gutted. And we always seem to get a really good table by the speakers. It's a night to remember. The King and her parents really seem to enjoy the evening and that's all that really matters. On another note, Crysta's basketball team had another game and notched another victory. They are now 4-1 in league play. She had a few points plus a couple of really wicked passes. Till next time!

Fries with that Shake?

Well not too much going on here today, other than the 9 little earthquakes we have had in the last hour and a half. Most of them have been pretty small where you hardly notice them. There was one that was a 3.7 that you could just feel rolling in and then right on by. It was pretty cool. It's funny to watch peoples reactions, some get very excited and the other half just don't care. Oh well, that's it from here for now.

Weekend Update

Well there is not much to report here in West Coast Peavine. Crysta's team had a basketball game on Saturday in Half Moon Bay which they did not win. The probably should have, but there were a lot of mistakes they could not overcome. Spent the rest of the weekend doing a little house cleaning and watching a lot of basketball on TV. Again, Happy Birthday to Auna and hope that she had a great time!

3-0!

Crysta had her third game this morning. The team they were playing are all much taller than our girls. I told the King that it would probably be very ugly. But to our amazement the girls played the best game I think either one of us has ever seen them play. They ended up winning by about 20 points. Crysta had a few plus some nice steals.

Hail Yes!

Well it wasn't the same as Peavine, but we did get to go outside and play in the hail storm last night. It's beginning to look a lot like Xmas.

Another Win

Crysta had her second game last night and they won that one as well. They are now 2-0 with their 3rd game tomorrow morning. Woke up this morning to what I thought was a very heavy rain. But then I remembered that sound and looked outside. The ground and all of the cars was covered in hail. It blanketed everything. There is a big storm that is due to come in with very cold temperatures this evening. They are predicting snow on the mountains around the city including Twin Peaks where we have gone for a view of the city.

Well, I finally went yesterday and got a physical exam. The last one I had was in 1981. The King has been after me for a while to get one. Well boy's just so you know, we are at that age where we get the old one finger salute. I wasn't expecting it, which is probably a good thing or I would have been stressing about it. I do find it funny though that they put you in the fetal position when they administer the test. In case you want to sob uncontrollably afterwards I guess. It really wasn't that bad at all and whatever he was looking for was normal. Sorry there are no photo's to accompany this blog entry.

Booked

Well, we have booked our trip to China and Crysta has her official birth certificate. We applied for her passport on Saturday. She also had her first game of the basketball season on Friday night and they won. After we applied for her passport on Saturday, we went to Chinatown and finalized our trip. We then went shopping at a local mall while my car was being looked at. Greg would have enjoyed the mall on this day. They were having a memorabilia show. Lots of tables with people and all sorts of cards and memorabilia. I bought a few autographed cards of OU players. Later that evening we took the King's parents to my favorite place for beer and pizza. So maybe I was the only one who had pizza, but I think they enjoyed it. Spent yesterday just watching TV, it was a cold and rainy day here. Showed my boss the picture Jeannie had of the Big Daddy and he was asking if it was really as big as it looked. Sure would like one now.
